Since 1966, Kansas City has been home to Lockton, the world’s largest privately held, independent insurance brokerage. Kansas City is where we’ve built our business, served our clients, and invested in the community that supported us from day 1.

Now, after 60 years of growing our company to a global organization, earning more than $4 billion in revenue annually, we are ready for what’s next.

To keep pace with our growth and ambition, Lockton is building a new global headquarters in Leawood, Kansas. It is set to be a world-class, mixed-use center, designed for the future of work and to reflect who we are as a company and where we’re headed.

Construction begins in 2026, with move-in planned for 2030. As the project progresses, this page will be your source for updates, FAQs, news, and more.

Grounded in Kansas City, focused on the future

From our first office at 43rd and Belleview to this next chapter, every decision to move has been about creating more space for growth, prioritizing an environment to host and service our clients, and strengthening our ties to the community. Most recently, Lockton has proudly called the Plaza home for 25 years. It will always be part of our story, and we will continue to office on the Plaza until our move in 2030. We’re excited to build an office that sets a new standard for workplace experience and keeps Lockton grounded in the greater Kansas City metro.

The new office will open its doors in 2030.

Design has already commenced and will continue through 2026. By the end of 2026, sitework will begin, with construction continuing until move-in begins.

Associates played a central role throughout the evaluation process. In our nearly decade of planning, hundreds of Associates provided input through surveys and conversations, helping us understand what matters most for their work and wellbeing. Their feedback shaped key priorities — such as collaborative spaces, advanced technology, wellness features, on-site dining, outdoor areas, safety, talent acquisition and retention, and shorter commutes. This collaboration and feedback loop ensured that our new headquarters reflects both our business needs and the values of our Associates.

Leawood was selected after nearly a decade of careful evaluation as it best meets Lockton’s long-term growth needs and priorities. Above all else, this location gives us:

  • Control of our future with a purpose-built office designed for innovation and collaboration.
  • Recruiting and retention advantages thanks to its accessibility and proximity to top talent.
  • Secure access for Associates and clients.
  • Amenities and convenience, including restaurants, spaces for entertaining, a large city park, and more.
  • Community continuity, keeping us rooted in the Kansas City region where we’ve grown for nearly 60 years.

Ultimately, Leawood allows us to create a world-class workplace that reflects our culture, supports our Associates, and strengthens our ability to serve clients globally.

The relocation to Leawood presents opportunities to enhance the way advisors serve clients. Here’s what it means:
